Numb3rs

Numb3rs or Numbers TV SeriesNumb3rs ( also capitalized as NUMB3RS and pronounced as Numbers) is the story of FBI Special Agent Don Eppes (Rob Morrow) and his mathematical genius brother, Charlie Eppes (David Krumholtz), who help Don solve crimes for the FBI. The show focuses on the relationships between Don, his brother Charlie and their father Alan (Judd Hirsch), and the brothers efforts to fight crimes. Usually the episodes begins with the crime and the subsequent FBI investigation lead by Don and by the help of Charlie's mathematical formulation about the given data provides some way crucial to solving crime. As a seasoned investigator, Don deals in hard facts and evidence, whereas Charlie, a math professor at a California university, functions in a world of mathematical probability and equations. Now, despite their disparate approaches to life, Don and Charlie are able to combine their areas of expertise and solve some killer cases. Charlie has his friend Larry Fleinhardt (Peter MacNicol) who help him in formulation of some logic and one of the doctoral student Amita Ramanujan (Navi Rawat), who also help him.

In the first episode of Season 1, FBI Special Agent Don Eppes got a case regarding the serial rapist-turned-killer. His brother Charlie voluntarily help him and produced a mathematical equation to identify the killer's point of origin by working back from the crime scene locations. Charlie compared the theory in a sprinkle drops of water, main plot line revolves around determining from a set of points (locations of murders by a serial killer) the home base of the killer. Much rambling about sprinklers and how from the location of the drops one can reconstruct the location of a rotating sprinkler. That is a brilliant idea of Charlie, unfortunately the first theory that he gave is suddenly missed out because he taught that the killer has only one base. So Don and Charlie talked together and again discuss the matter. Finally Charlie figure out that there is a great probability that there is a two based so he make another theory and produced a two hot zone pointing the rapist location. With Charlie brilliant idea FBI save the last victim and put the rapist in jail.

Numb3rs has a very creative premise...I thought it will be just another CSI but I was wrong...IMO, it is a lot more interesting than CSI and the math is 100% believable...
